The Ruse Festival Orchestra is a unique project, carrying in itself the deep and lasting connections between different generations of musicians from all over the world, who made their first professional steps at the National School of Arts Prof. Veselin Stoyanov - Ruse.
Established in 2010 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the school and the 50th anniversary of the March Music Days, the Festival Orchestra makes its first successful program within the festival with the participation of world-famous Bulgarian musicians - alumni Emil Tabakov, Svetlin Rusev, and piano duo Aglika Genova and Lyuben Dimitrov.
The second edition of the project is on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the school and the festival in 2015. The exceptional artistic quality of the concert program with Scheherazade by R. Korsakov and Beethoven's Violin Concerto with conductor Emil Tabakov and with the participation of one of the most successful and world-renowned Bulgarian instrumentalists Svetlin Roussev brought to the orchestra the high recognition of the audience and the prestigious national award Musician of the Year in the category Music Project.
His third performance at the 57th edition of the March Music Days in 2017 (Elgar - Cello Concerto, soloist Alexander Somov, and Mendelssohn - Theatrical Music A Midsummer Night's Dream with conductor Emil Tabakov) proves that the orchestra is already a tradition and moreover - a sign of strong spiritual belonging to Ruse and the cause of the School of Arts, preserved in time and focused on the future. A tradition that determines the decision for his annual participation in the festival.
At the 58th edition of the MF MMD in 2018, the orchestra presented itself for the first time with two programs with conductor Emil Tabakov and soloists Svetlin Rusev, Evgeni Bojanov, and saxophone quartet SIGNUM.
In 2019 he performed his first international project with two concerts conducted by maestro Tabakov and soloists Svetlin Rusev and piano duo Aglika Genova and Lyuben Dimitrov, with the participation of musicians from the Romanian National Orchestra. The first concert of the Ruse Orchestra, which was a great success, took place on April 1, 2019, in the famous Athenaeum Hall in Bucharest, Romania.
Its concert in 2021 will also be remembered, when in honor of the 60th anniversary of the festival, the Ruse Festival Orchestra presented on the festival stage the world-famous Bulgarian opera singer Krassimira Stoyanova with "Four Last Songs" by R. Strauss and premiered the Violin Concerto by Emil Tabakov, dedicated to the festival and its first performers - RFO and Svetlin Rusev.
